DXB Terminal 1: what to know
DXB Terminal 1 is the original main terminal at Dubai International Airport, sitting on the airport's south side right beside Terminal 3. It handles scheduled and seasonal flights from dozens of international airlines, including many that serve South Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East. An underground link connects it to Terminal 3, so the two buildings feel like one long structure when you walk between them. Arrivals halls feed directly onto the pick-up curb, while the departures level sits above with its own drop-off forecourt.
Parking for Terminal 1 is arranged around the terminal itself. The closest option is the short-term car park directly opposite the arrivals doors, with longer-stay and economy parking a short walk or shuttle ride away. Before you park, take a photo of the deck, row and bay markings — the multi-storey blocks look alike once you leave them, and losing track of your bay is almost as common as losing the keys themselves. Keep your parking ticket somewhere safe too, because exit barriers will not open without it.
Car key trouble at Terminal 1 usually strikes in two moments: after a long flight, when a tired traveller reaches into a bag and finds the key fob missing, or at drop-off, when someone realises the car keys went into a suitcase that is now inside the terminal. We come to you at the airport. Stay in the public parking or pick-up areas with your car — we cannot go airside — and share your exact parking spot on WhatsApp so the technician can walk straight to you.
If you're stuck at DXB Terminal 1
Before leaving your car, photograph the deck, row and bay number on the parking sign — the blocks look identical when you return.
Meet the technician at your car in the public car park. Airport rules mean key work happens at the parking/pick-up areas, not inside the terminal.
Send a live WhatsApp location pin from your parking bay when you call; the technician uses it to find you without phone tag.
Charge your phone before you fly. A dead battery in a huge car park means no calls, no maps and no way to share your location.
Questions about car keys at DXB Terminal 1
Can you make a car key for me at DXB Terminal 1?
Yes. We come to you at the terminal's public parking and pick-up areas. Tell us your parking deck, row and bay, plus your car's make, model and year, and the technician works at the car itself — no towing needed.
Do you have access inside the airport terminal?
No. We have no airside access and no special airport permission of any kind. The service meets you at your car in the public car parks and kerbside pick-up areas outside the terminal building. That covers almost every car-key situation, because opening, cutting and programming all happen at the vehicle itself.
What if my car keys are locked inside the car at the airport?
That is one of the most common calls we get at DXB. Stay with the car in the parking area, note the deck and bay number, and call us. The technician opens the car and can cut and program a replacement key on the spot.
What do I need to have with me for a replacement key?
Proof that the car is yours: your driving licence, Emirates ID or passport, plus the vehicle registration (mulkiya) if you have it. The technician checks these before cutting or programming any key. This is standard practice everywhere and it protects you as much as it protects us.
I lost my keys somewhere between the plane and the car park. What should I do?
First, retrace your steps and check with the airport lost-and-found in arrivals. If the keys do not turn up, come to your car, note the exact parking spot and call us. A replacement fob key can be made at the car, so you are not stranded at the airport.
